Another great feature that can be noticed is the aspects modes which can be selectable. We all know that not all of today’s available viewing content is available in the true 16:9 widescreen format. In order to eliminate the black bars that may be visible on the top or bottom or even on the sides of the screen Hitachi has a wide range of aspect modes so you can expand the image to the widescreen format while minimizing visual distortion, in total there are 4 HD and 6 SD Aspect modes plus three preset color temperatures.
The P50S601 has a great color-producing capacity, as it’s able to produce 281 trillion colors, thanks to 16 bit processing increases the number of steps to over 65,000 per color for the smoothest and most film-like image possible.
Deep black and vivid colors weren’t a problem to P50S601, which demonstrated a good color reproduction performance. A standard DVD had its picture upscaled to 1080i and showed good performance, but the best were, without any doubt, the Blu-ray versions of SpiderMan 3 and Stealth, which looked excellent.
Of course the Hitachi P50S601 features built-in ATSC and NTSC tuners, as well the QAM digital cable. It means it combines digital and analog channels into one tuning memory for seamless channel access.
Whether watching the P50S601 at day or night, you will get the optimal picture and contrast settings automatically thanks to timed switching ambient light conditions. This TV allows for three custom settings that match the picture settings with accompanying ambient light conditions so that you get the best possible image settings no matter the hour. Additionally, the anti-reflective screen has a unique black stripe screen filter that ensures a quality picture by blocking ambient room light for added brightness and deeper blacks.
The television also features multiple screen saver and power saving modes for efficiency when not in use. This TV also comes with a motorized stand that allows you to swivel the screen up to 30 degrees in either direction, by remote control.
