Sound-optimized blade geometry and profile: The NF-S12 and NF-R8 are the first fans employing a novel rotor which was developed by the Austrian Institute for Heat-Transmission and Fan Technology (Österreichisches Institut für Wärmeübertragung und Ventilatorentechnik, ÖIWV). Thanks to the special optimization of the blade geometry towards ultra low noise application, the NF-S12 and NF-R8 are up to 10% quieter than current high-end fans at the same flow rate.
Self-stabilizing oil-pressure bearing (SSO bearing): The NF-S12 and NF-R8 series are equipped with a magnetically centered, self lubricating oil-pressure bearing that provides a new level of quietness and long-term stability.

The Noctua NF-S12-1200 comes in a nice retail package, with an open window allowing you to see the fan inside. In the back of the package, there are some information about the fan and its features in 4 languages, along with the fan’s specifications.Opening the package we could see some nice “extras”: the fan comes with pass-through wire with resistor, four Vibration Compensators, 4 Fan Screws and 3:4-Pin Adaptor.
The fan has a different color scheme than usual, I think this color is fine, but I can imagine people wondering how to match this color scheme in their case mod.
